The Panda is considered a national treasure in China. In their natural habitat, Pandas live mainly in temperate forests high in the mountains of southwest China, where they subsist almost entirely on bamboo.  They live in a few mountain ranges in south central China, in Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces. They once lived in lowland areas, but farming, forest clearing and other development now restrict giant pandas to the mountains. The full case study can be read here: Case Study.
