Illustration Description
Blood is a complex connective tissue in which living blood cells, the formed elements, are suspended. Blood is unique; it is the only fluid tissue in the body. This was the subject used to create a card design called ‘The Anatomy of Blood’. The components of blood include plasma, (which is approximately 90 percent water, is the liquid part of the blood), white blood cells (leukocytes, or white blood cells, are far less numerous than red blood cells, and are crucial to body’s defense against disease), red blood cells (these cells carry oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body, taking carbon dioxide back to the lungs to be exhaled).
